Typing Lessons

To Begin
Simply begin typing on your keyboard and you will see your text display on the screen.

Beginner Lessons
Beginner Lessons provide a mini-keyboard and hand diagram displaying which key and finger should be used. Make sure to utilize this instead of looking at your hands!

Typing Mistakes
If you make a mistake, it will be marked in a different color and your next key must be correct, or you may click BACKSPACE to delete your mistake. Note however, that deleting a mistake is not necessary, as it does not help your accuracy score.

Pausing & Restarting
The Pause button will stop the timer and stop taking input from the keyboard. Press Pause again to continue the exercise. If you are not happy with your typing performance you may restart by clicking the Restart button. Your timer and statistics will all be reset.

Problem Keys
TypingWeb tracks the keys that give you the most trouble. The top 3 letters will appear as underlined through the exercises. If you do not wish to see these you must change your Options and uncheck the "Show Problem Keys" box.

Finished Typing
After completing an exercise, you will either pass and continue on, or fail and you must redo that exercise. Some exercises require a certain accuracy or speed.

Notes
When you begin a lesson, you will be given an introduction including useful hints and information. Begin typing by clicking the link or pressing SPACE or ENTER.

The Text Is Too Big!
If the text is too big and is causing the last letters of the exercises to be covered up or run off the side of the page, go to the "Options" section and choose the option "Small Fonts".
